About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Iconography

Has anyone else noticed Google's new favicon?

(More information here and here.)

Personally, I don't like it.

UPDATE: In other giant-Internet-company news, Amazon is down! (Hat tip: Insty.)

Ugh.

I just went to buy some tomes on Amazon and noticed this. What a bummer.

I just went to the campus bookstore to get said book only to find that even on sale its $8 more than it would be on Amazon.

Must be an overload from all those people buying the Kindle /sarcasm

David,

Isn't the kindle selling really well? I thought it was hard to get?

Also, i agree with you on the favicon thing

Marty - Amazon refuses to release sales numbers on it. It could be hard to get because they haven't made too many as well.

I didn't know they haven't released any sales information on the Kindle. Shady. It seem liks a decent product though. I know personally I like having an actual book to read...not a screen. I read a screen all day at work.

The favicon thing reminds me of when Garth Brooks went to the little "g" as his logo... Wonder if Garth will sue? :-)

Seriously though, it looking at Garth's site (http://www.garthbrooks.com/dialup/index.cfm), it appears he has something called "Cirle-g mail" I wonder which came first? "Circle-g mail" or "Gmail"?
