Question
Can someone tell me what this symbol is? I see it constantly on cars here in Knoxville, but I have no idea what it means, and you can't Google a symbol. :)
UPDATE: Commenters have informed me that it's the South Carolina state flag. Well, you wouldn't expect an effete Yankee elitist Obama supporter to know that, now would you? ;)

My Yankee Friend,
It's a southern thing...Palmetto tree and crescent (representing Charleston I've been told), as id'ed by Pouge is the SC flag...it was the "national" flag of SC during the civil war too I believe - I've seen different versions with the word "liberty" above the moon down in GA.

Heh.
In point of fact, I had never tried to Google it... I had always meant to, but wasn't sure how I would, and anyway I always forgot about it by the time I got back to the apartment after seeing the sticker 50 times while out and about in the car. But today I saw it while walking the dog, and I conveniently had my cell phone with me, so I figured I'd take a picture, post it to the blog, and my army of Googling monkeys, errrrr, research assistants, errrrr, blog readers, would have an answer for me within minutes. :P And I was right! :)

Ugh. Yankees. In the South.
The beachy areas of South Carolina tend to be some of the closer options for beach vacations for those of us here in East Tennessee. Myrtle Beach for the more, shall I say, blue collar types, HIlton Head for the more desk jockey set.
You'll also see a lot of the Euro-style badges with HHI on them around, too.
