About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Obamamania in Oregon

The media obsession with Obama's huge rallies may have peaked in January and February, but the man still knows how to draw a crowd: 75,000 in Portland!

That's almost as many people as the total number who voted for him in West Virginia.

UPDATE: This was in fact a record Obama crowd.

I'm kind of surprised the article didn't mention that Obama fed them all with five loaves and two fish.

Wow. That's an assload of people.

Wow, I'm surprised there are that many people in Oregon...because as we all know, Obama has a problem with white people.

err...I'm surprised there are that many [black] people in Oregon.

Verygood. Remarkable.

(and LOL, copndor! Also verygood! :).

It was a beautiful day for it, too. There were hundreds of boats, kayaks, and canoes on the Willamette in addition to the throngs at Waterfront Park.

The Mrs. & I watched his speech on TV--I'd give it a 6/10 or so.

Perhaps, for the second time in her entire (privileged) "adult life", Michelle is proud of her country?

He's still un-electable.

I hope the focus stays on some remarks made by Michelle and not my refusal to release my tax returns.

Holy sh*t.

That is a huge area, and it looks completely packed. I've been to several festivals on the waterfront (the bite, jazz festival, brewer's festival, fireworks, etc.), and I've never seen it even close to that full.

Good slide show here:

Oh, my, god. Bill, look at his crowd. It is so big. *scoff* He looks like, one of those rap guys. But, you know, who understands those rap guys? *scoff* They only talk to him, because, he looks like a total mack daddy, 'kay? I mean, his crowd, is just so big. I can't believe it's just so round, it's like,
out there, I mean - gross. Look! He's just so ... black!

Resignation at Obama's eventual victory begins to set in as one ponders the growing slack-jawed stupidity and self-centeredness of a potential majority of voting Americans. They lap up Obama's promises completely ignorant of the constitutional limitations on federal power and its structural emphasis on education and the details of ordinary life to be handled locally by the people in their state governments. ME ME ME ME ME ME ME. How do any of you Obamaphiles see any future for your children's children in this Man's billion dollar promises that he peddles as if they are dime a dozen. You fools. You damned ignorant fools.

Just think how many people Che Guevara could have gotten if he'd had a rally in Oregon. I know--cheap shot, but, face it, Oregon is full of screwballs. I should know, I have friends and family there.

You're not fooling anyone DBrooks. You have no friends and family.

Weren't those people also there for a rock concert?
