McKinney clinches Green Party presidential nomination
Remember Cynthia McKinney, the racist, anti-Semitic, conspiracy-mongering moron who was so radical and ridiculous that she managed to be voted out of her safe congressional seat in Georgia after she refused to take responsibility for physically assaulting a Capitol police officer, an incident that she blamed (as she does everything) on racism?
Well, she's going to be the Green Party nominee for President of the United States.
Cornell professor Peter Swartz, opposing McKinney's appointment to that university's faculty in 2003, famously wrote: "Ms. McKinney is a racist and anti-Semite of the first rank. If she were white and male, she would be David Duke." Well, hey, David Duke ran for president in 1988 (first as a Democrat, then as a Populist) and in 1992 (as a Republican). She's just following in her mentor's footsteps!

horribly disapointing. a few years ago i had some hope that the green party could be a legitimate political alternative to the main parties. now they've gone from running the brilliant ralph nader to this worthless person. combine that with a ever moving leftwards democratic party and i don't really see a viable roll anywhere in the future for the green party.
i think the libretarian party has a better chance of becoming a viable 3rd party than the green party will have for long time at this point.

LOL! Nice hustle, Greens. You've managed to make Libertarian candidate Bob Barr look mainstream.

There will never be a viable 3rd party in the U.S. We would need a parliamentary system for that. When will people figure that out?

angrier,
depends on your definition of viable. if viable equals electable then i agree with you. if viable equals attracting around ~10% of support then i disagree and think a 3rd party can get that level of support.

yea, trouble is over the years Nader has gotten more and more ridiculous, so even he wouldn't help much these days.

Wow, it's diluting the Georgia vote even that much more. Anyone else from the Peach State planning on seeking the White House?
Seriously, though. McKinney's absolutely horrible.

I'm really not sure how McKinney represents the typical pot-smoking, peace loving, hemp wearing, gay marrying, tree hugging "Green" constituent. Unless it has turned into a party of militant hippies (maybe it has?)

nader makes sense on most of his policy issues. however, the fact that he runs for president everytime seems pretty self-serving is in actuality harms his (good) message. his constant running for president is the only thing about him that seems ridiculous to me.
the guy is a genius and i wish he was more adept at presenting himself to the national scene so he would be taken more seriously. he is one of 3 or so people i believe to graduate with a perfect GPA from harvard law school. anyone who has dealt with blind grading at law school, much less harvard law school, realizes how hard it is to get As. imagine getting all As against the type of competition he had to face at HLS.

Nader's greatest accomplishment was pointing out something that the "Greatest Generation" was apparently too stupid to figure out...seat belts keep you from flying through a windshield. I'm not sure it makes him a genius, though.

Sorry we did not get to that one, we were a little spent after the Great Depression and World War II.
Posted by: Greatest Generation | May 27, 2008 3:16:33 PM
Makes you wonder how many members of the Greatest Generation survived the Great Depression and WWII (also Korea) only to fly through a windshield or break their neck some other way because they didn't have a seatbelt in the car, ala George Patton...
The Cadillac smashed into the truck. General Patton was thrown forward and his head struck a metal part of the partition between the front and back seats. Gay and Woodring were uninjured. Paralyzed from the neck down, George Patton died of an embolism on December 21, 1945 at the military hospital in Heidelberg, Germany with his wife present.

Just because he's intelligent doesn't mean he's smart. Lots of book smart people lack common sense.

We also smoked lots of cigarettes. Do not forget to criticize us with the comfort of hindsight for that as well.

It should have been foresight...
"American physicians in the 1920s advocated the use of seat belts in cars. Some of them even outfitted their cars with seatbelts. Plastic surgeon Claire L. Straith and physician C. J. Strickland were at the forefront of that demand. Strickland founded the Automobile Safety League of America. The American public showed little interest."

I have been an attorney in the US. A lawyer=graduation from an accredited law school, an attiorney has passed the bar exam and in legal proceedings "attorn", as to literally speak for you in court. A lawyer may assist but never actually represent anyone or sign a legal document as an officer of the court. A older lawyer (30-103) is generally one who has failed the bar but works as a paralegal. Pat Robertson, a man who suggests that he knows God and Christ better than you do, could not be your Chris Dardern or Barry Scheck or Michael Kennedy. With failure rate on the NY Bar 50% - 60(!) % for first time takers, there are many 7 time losers iutvthete and ate "lawyers." Watch out for them!!your Cade comes around, you will see the lawyer's "of counsel" attorney at litigation time.
So I've read way way too much, ugh!!!
Being said, I live your style and the way you make your points with clarity and luciditu of linear thought. Nice.

So what is it with Georgia ?
A State that produces Jimmuh Carters, Bob Barrs, and Cynthia McKinneys ought to be being investigated by the CDC to try to find out what is causing it ...
Oh wait ... the CDC HQ *is* in Georgia, already ... Goldurnit, but Our Government is Good - managing to have folk on the spot way before the general public realised what was going on ...

Notice Alasdair conveniently forgot Newt Gingrich.

I hadn't remembered Speaker Newt as being from Georgia ...
A kid with a first name of Newt would not have survived Primary School back in Scotland ... one of his more inquisitive classmates would have encountered the small amphibious reptile, and made his life miserable ... and as soon as Macbeth showed up on the reading list, the kid would have had to hide for several years ...

Being from Georgia myself, I'd like to now declare my run at the White House. While I don't meet the minimum age requirements, I can assure you that I am far less crazy than either of the other two newly discovered Georgia candidates. I suppose I just need to find a party for support. Something along the lines of Georgians Searching for a Less Crazy Presidential Nomineee, or GSLCPN? :-)
