About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Clinton and Obama, together in Florida?

Huh? Mark Halperin says, "Obama and Clinton to share Florida stage on Wednesday." Does he mean they'll literally be on the same stage, or just that they'll both be in the Sunshine State? If it's the former, that sounds very significant!

UPDATE: Halperin clarifies: "Obama and Clinton both plan to campaign in Florida on Wednesday." Oh. Nevermind.

P.S. Speaking of people whom Obama might like to "share [a] Florida stage" with... has anyone seen Al Gore? Just asking!

P.P.S. Heh:

But they got Connecticut wrong! It should be black... as should Maryland and Delaware. (Actually, if you look closely, it appears that Delaware has just been left off completely. Joe Biden's gonna be pissed!) Meanwhile, Nevada should be white, unless we're going on delegates rather than votes (in which case Texas should be black).

In any event, as Ben Smith notes, "it's a reminder that race and politics are complicated subjects when North Dakota is 'black.'" Heh. Indeed.

Isn't he still being fitted for his Mitre and Chasuble, as Arch-Primate of the Cult of Global Warming ? Or is he overseeing the printing of the Indulgences that his Cult is selling ?

(sigh) Makes one nostalgic for the Old Days, when they use to perform experimentation on Primates, don't it just ?

Alasdair - what's all this primate business about?

Alec, his Eminence the Laird Protector of the Lowlands is just indulging his tendency to ape the hierarchy. We musn't censer him, it's nothing so thurible, merely one of his chasuble pastimes, sort of like inventing new mitrecs to measure who wins the Primateries.

Brendan, that Map also omits Black Alaska & Black Hawaii. / And Black District of Columbia. (Not to mention Our Nation's Capital, Presumptively White Puerto Rico :)

Alec - in religious terms, a Primate is a leader of a cult or a religious denomination within an organised church ... well, as much as a church can be organised ... (grin) ...

In biology, a Primate is a type of animal like man and the other great apes ...

I remain troubled.

Alasdair is a racist!

I hope not Joe, but...

Alec, I believe Alasdair is talking about Al Gore, not Barack Obama, so I'm not sure what you're on about.

If so, I apologise for getting the wrong end of the stick. (Never really believed there was anything sinister going on here, but I found the comment a bit odd).

Sorry Alasdair.

Alec - I tend to be right much more often than I may appear sinister ...

Given how seldom Alasdair is right, he should just about never appear sinister...

Silly David ! Make up your mind ! You seem to believe I can *only* be right - so how can I be sinister ?

See what happens when you don't get a Classical Education !

That may be the first latin joke ever made on this blog.
