About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

And then we're going to Guam! YAAARH!

Barack Obama is leading the Guam caucuses.

UPDATE, 5:29 PM: With all but one precinct reporting, Obama leads 1,951 to 1,748. So Hillary will need a 204-vote margin in Dededo, Guam's most populous village, to overtake Barack and win the caucuses.

In the linked breakdown I was at first Alarmed to spy what appeared to be a significantly-discrepant Doublecount of Obama votes ~ "...131 in Sinajana, 108 in Agana Heights, 194 in Sinajana,...", in contrast to Clinton's "...89 in Sinajana, 105 in Agana Heights, 155 in Mangilao..." ~ which when Caught & Corrected would deflate Barack's tally by either 131 or (shudder :) 194, depending on which of his Sinajanas was correct. / However upon realizing that Obama, unlike Herself, showed No Mangilao at all :} and thus that his 2nd Sinajana (194) almost certainly reflects his actual Mangilao performance :>, I settled down. / Far better the Data Entry Error be in the Precinct Name than in the Numbers :).

Assuming that the missing metropolis of Dededo comes through for him, I bet the bellweather will turn out to have been Barack's decisive win in Mongmong-Toto-Maite. At least I Hope so :}. Also it somehow sounds to me like Hillary's near-upset in Umatac may be the result of Heavy Uruk-hai Turnout but Who knows? :) / And saaay, here I always thought Hagåtña was in Israel. ;>

final tally appears to be a Florida- esque 2264-2257 victory for Obama. 7 votes! Recount, anyone?

Elder Loy - how did each do in the lesser-known yet still important Guam-Tamany vote ?

Waw haw, Alasdair :). I haven't seen the figures but if I know Boss Mongmong-Toto-Tweed, oul' Barry O'Bama got Exactly the plurality that he Needed. (Boss MTT always says bedamn if he'll pay for a Landslide. :)
