About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Pennsylvania open thread

The polls close in an hour. Go nuts.

UPDATE: Holy cow. I leave work, drive home, eat dinner, put the baby to bed, and by the time I finally get to my computer at just before 7:30 PM (this post was created in advance and published automatically at 7:00), I've had almost 7,500 hits in an hour-and-a-half, thanks to link-love for my "don't trust the exit polls" post from Real Clear Politics, the Huffington Post, the National Review, the New Republic, Mickey Kaus, Daily Kos, Free Republic and Democratic Underground, among others. (Talk about a motley ideological crew!)

Craziness!! Admittedly, I did link-whore the post to a bunch of people before leaving work, but I never expected this kind of success. :) Anyway, welcome, new readers! I'll be live-blogging the election results tonight, so stay tuned!

"Go nuts."

Bill and Hillary beat me to it.

To get the ball rolling on accusations of disenfranchisement, apparently my aunt (a big Clinton supporter, but only because she's a racist) wouldn't bring my grandmother to the polling place with her today because my grandmother said she would vote Obama.

yay.

I've got some racist relatives in Philadelphia too, but that story is pretty messed up Jim.

I once saw Hillary Clinton use a puppy to club a baby seal.

I'd have just shot em both

Hillary and the seal that is, puppies can grow up to be huntin dogs

I was only using the puppy and the seal to shield me from sniper fire at 3 am when i tried to answer the phone

George W. Bush hates black puppies

Now Kanye, that ain't true, I love my dog Barney and he's black!

I think its time we stopped living in fear of puppies and seals and looked towards the future with hope

It's 3 a.m. Do you know where your puppy is?

The puppy is in the bathroom with me... shhh.

This is how we do in arkansas.

Somewhere, under some bridge, a homeless puppy is whimpering.

By the year 2020, the water levels in puppy bowls accross the globe will be receding due to increased carbon emisions.

Do you know what's in that can of purina?

Too many puppies are illegally sneaking across our southern border and taking up the space of American-born puppies in our animal shelters.

We're letting puppies become to reliant on human aid. Meanwhile, the cost of purina has risen to unprecedented levels. We need to go back to the Kibbles 'N Bits standard.

I actually did vote for euthanizing puppies, before I voted against it.

Bob Dole had a puppy once. Bob Dole liked that puppy. Bob Dole thinks America needs more puppies.

Puppies can be used for nourishment and warmth.

Ask not what your puppy can do for you; ask what you can do for your puppy!
