About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Mike Brey reportedly Indiana-bound

Breaking news: ESPN's Andy Katz is reporting that Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey, the back-to-back Big East Coach of the Year who used to be such a frequent subject of Irish Trojan criticism that you'd have thought his first name was "Fire," will be introduced tomorrow morning as the new head coach at Indiana.

The last time rumors cropped up of Brey's possible departure (for N.C. State, in that case), I said they were "too good to be true." Now I actually think this might be a big loss for the Irish. I just hope Brey won't take assistant coach Gene Cross with him to Hoosierland!

Anyway, I'll have more on this after work, but Katz has more details.

April Fools! Again!

I figured I'd try a "hiding in plain sight" prank, right above my April Fools post. Anyone buy it? :)

It's been flying around over on the other ND website that you're not particularly fond of as well and people debated there whether there was truth to it and it was just masked by April Fools or whether it was an actual April Fools joke.

well played. you got me twice in a day.

Heh. Sweet. :)

NDLauren, I assume this is the thread you're talking about? Hmm. Interesting. I vote April Fools. If so, great minds think alike. (Actually, I don't consider El Kabong a "great mind," and I'm pretty sure he doesn't consider me one, either, considering some of the things he's written about me. Nevertheless, on this particular subject, we think alike!)

BREAKING NEWS! Sources say Barack Obama will choose Mike Brey as his runningmate; Hillary Clinton will suspend her presidential campaign, endorse the Obama-Brey ticket, and become the new head basketball coach at Notre Dame.

It's called synergy, people...

Sorry Brendan, this post would need more Weis, Willingham, Carroll drama to make it really have synergy :)

I'm voting for Barack Obama.

LOL!

Totally not believable, sorry Patrick. :)

I can't believe I got fooled by this. Touche.

Ok you are one for two. The first one didn't get me since I work for a TV station and working during the morning newscasts and noon in Hillary's current state of employment. The second one had some legs after reading about 2 starters from IU's squad being released from the team and the story from ESPN and Indy Star saying that they would announce a new coach before the start of the final 4. ESPN.com's Andy Katz is reporting that Tom Crean of Marquette could be the next coach.
