About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Hillary's financial woes

Will Hillary Clinton be forced to drop out due to a lack of money if she doesn't win big -- nay, huge -- tonight? I'm not hopeful, but apparently her financial situation is somewhat dire. More here.

I think so. She has $9 million on hand, but her debt insures that nobody will help her organize an event or run an ad without being paid up front, so I don't see that money lasting past May 6. She needs an eye-popping win to motivate her supporters to donate in numbers big enough that allow her to compete in Indiana and run a credible campaign in Kentucky & West Virginia, which is why I think the 10% threshold being set for her is too low, she needs at least 15% to have a chance of pulling this off.

time to send Obama another check!

Ha ha go broke you.... Sorry, my Schadenfreude is showing...
