About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

ALL UR TRAVEL DELAYS R BELONG 2 US.

I can't wait for the craptastic service and unaffordable rates that this merger will provide. I think in MBA-speak it's called "synergy."

Detest Airlines

Heh. I like it.

Surely, Brendan, you are campaigning to have it called ND Airlines ?

Hrmmm . . . I was always hoping that Northwest and Southwest would merge, forming West airlines.

The directors of Delta and Northwest approved a deal for the companies to merge and create the world's largest airline, and, inevitably, the world's largest bankruptcy filing...

I'd think Brendan, liking ND, would want this horror-show of an airline to have as different of a name as possible. United Customer Losing Airways, perhaps?

this is actually a good thing and will likely save the average person money in a few years. its a bad thing for employees of these two airlines.

I am not looking forward to this. Northwest already had a virtual monopoly on my flights, but at least theirs seemed to be a better-run monopoly than Delta's on those of my brother. Nothing like the combination of monopoly power and incompetence to make the customer happy...

The greatest travesty of this is that the Northwest name will go away. In other words the movie title "North by Northwest" will become utter nonsense. This is the greatest thing to impact movies since Pan Am went away in the 90s, meaning it wasn't really the official airline of space stations in "2001."

WTF????
