Davidson has rallied to take the lead over Gonzaga with 7 minutes left. Tennessee-American still tight (Vols by 4) with 3 1/2 to play.

Only caught the end, but what a game by Curry and Davidson.

Davidson wins, Gonzaga goes home again. This team is nothing more then a regular Mid-Major that wins in a weak conference.

Nathan's comment proves why mid-major vs. mid-major matchups suck so much. If Davidson had beaten a #7 seed like West Virginia, you'd give them credit; you wouldn't say, "this just proves WVU sucks." But because it's mid over mid, you bash Gonzaga instead of giving Davidson credit.

Hint: DAVIDSON IS GOOD. No shame in losing a close game to them.

Gonzaga proves, year in and year out, that it can compete with the big boys in its nonconference schedule. If you can't see that, you're blind.

P.S. Stephen Curry scores 40 POINTS to beat Gonzaga, and that proves the Zags were overrated? How utterly retarded. Yeah, and USC sucks because Vince Young was able to beat them. Sometimes a great athlete turns in a superhuman performance. Good grief.

I suppose if Western Kentucky beats Drake, it'll prove Drake was overrated too?? Not like both teams are good, no, that's impossible because they're mid-majors.

Your right I would give them more credit for beating WVU then Gonzaga, cause Gonzaga sucks and WVU is solid. Gonzaga would be a bottom half team that never see the NCAA in the Big East. Can't wait to hear about the early season win over UConn. :)

Nathan, you're full of crap. If you dismiss "early season wins," then BY DEFINITION any team from a mid-major conference will ALWAYS fails to measure up against the big boys. It's not Gonzaga's fault their conference sucks, but they do everything they can reasonably be asked to do by scheduling the non-conf. schedule the way they do. So, yes, the early season win over UConn does matter. And if you see a team as talented as Gonzaga and think they wouldn't compete in the Big East, you are truly a fool. I'm not saying they'd win the conference, but they would certainly be competitive.

How do they prove they can compete with the big boys? They do win a few games early, but when the games count this teams gets hyped up and does nothing in the tourney.

Davidson is solid, but not good and for all the hype Gonzaga gets to bow out once again after 1 game its sad.

BTW, Can't wait to see how Davidson handles the size of Georgetown.

That last comment was by me, obviously.

Quit crying Loy, The Zags do this every year.

Gonzaga is the big east would be in the mole of Rutgers, Seton Hall, maybe Cincy.

They just aren't build for how physical the Big East is and if you think they could hang with Georgetown, Pitt, Louisville your the fool. Those teams have a physical mismatch over the Zags.

Christ Loy your dumb, Cincy is competitive in the Big East, but there not that great.

As Nathan just said the physicality of the Big East would kill Gonzaga.

Again: by dismissing "winning a few games early," you are making it completely impossible for ANY mid-major team to prove itself to your satisfaction. And then because you give no credit to good mid-majors for beating each other, you make it so the only way they can demonstrate they're "legit" is by beating a really, really good team like Georgetown. As if there's some shame in losing a close game to the Hoyas?? As if any team that loses to Georgetown is automatically bad??

You have set the terms of the argument in such a way that it's almost impossible for a mid-major to win the argument. And the committee has made it easy for you to continue to live in your comfortable world by creating this infernal mid-major vs. mid-majors matchups. That was my whole point.

P.S. West Virginia lost by 1 to Georgetown at home, and by 17 on the road. You say "WVU is solid." Keep that in mind if Davidson loses a close game to Georgetown and you dismiss them as another unworthy mid-major flame-out.

Look, I'm open to reasonable disagreement over where Gonzaga would hypothetically finish in the Big East. I think Gonzaga would be a NCAA bubble team in the Big East, you think they'd be an NIT or CBI team or lower. Fine. We can agree to disagree on that point. But what pisses me off is the attitude that because they lost to another quality mid-major, ipso facto they were overrated... and if Davidson now loses to Georgetown, one of the top eight teams IN THE COUNTRY, that will conclusively prove it.

Note: Nathan was in the other thread, talking about how overrated Drake was. ;)

Im not surprised!!!

Heh. I totally hadn't noticed that. LOL.

One last thing, and then I'm going to try to let this go. Nathan, you talk about Gonzaga getting all sorts of "hype." What hype? The Zags were a #7 seed, not a #3 or something, and they were actually considered the underdog against Davidson, according to Vegas and I think according to the ESPN bracket contest as well. This cannot have been an overhyped team because, in fact, they were getting zero hype.

I knew i should have picked the team with David in its name, but I thought naw, the Zags will surely win ONE game...
