About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Brey, Harangody win Big East honors

Luke Harangody, as expected, is the Big East Player of the Year -- and Mike Brey is the conference's Coach of the Year for the second straight season. (Hat tip: JohnMac.)

Brey was apparently unsatisfied by the crow I ate last year, and decided to continue coaching like a champion, thus making me look like even more of an idiot for my endlessly repeated demands back in 2005, 2006 and 2007 that he be fired. :)

Seriously: Great job, Coach Brey! Fire Brendan Loy! Go Irish!

Brendan, don't worry. There's still time left for the inevitable ND collapse in the tourney.

even if nd basketball loses their next two games they will still finish the year with less losses than the football team.

yikes

Okay. You're fired.

Dammit.

Mike Brey gets new assistant coach in 2006-2007. Team improves. Coincidence?

Becky - Irish get Harangody in 06-07, team improves. Finally a post player that, gasp, keeps his ass in the post!

The ND-ers certainly remember Jordan Cornette, our 6'10" "post" that had 103 3pt attempts his senior year...while shooting them at a 25.2% clip. I swear he never even set foot in the paint, and Brey never seemed to mind. Did I mention he was 6'10"?

Oh yeah, and that year (04-05) Cornette shot 146 total FGs. That means about 70% of his attempts were threes! A 6'10" post!!!

I'm still pissed about that year.

Heh.

I think Becky may be onto something. Gene Cross is the man!
