About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Okay, if you can't figure out the box, you have NO damn business installing Vista or any other software.

F-ing incredible.

I'll be contrarian today...

...if you ship your software in a difficult-to-open box, don't be surprised when you get questions about how to open the difficult-to-open box. User friendliness starts with the box. Given it's Vista, I'm not surprised.

In fact, Bill Gates should be beat about the head and shoulders with said box until he either suffers a concussion, or the box breaks.

I'm betting on the box.

Or you can go the route one Help Desk person did ...

Have the person ship the product back, if he's not bright enough to figure out how to get into it ...

Of course, that's not necessarily good for the company's bottom line, which is why said Help Desk person got fired ... (grin) ...
