About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

GOOOO IRISH!!!

BEEEEAT CARDINALS!!!

That is all.

UPDATE: Um, so yeah, it's not going too well. Louisville 42, Notre Dame 27 at halftime.

UPDATE 2: Louisville won, 90-85. They were way ahead for most of the game, but Notre Dame mounted a valiant comeback late, with five three-pointers in the last minute-and-a-half -- three of them by Luke Harangody, who hadn't hit a three all season! Harangody ended up with 40 points.

UPDATE 3: USC-Arizona is now underway on ESPN. The Trojans lead early, 26-14.

UPDATE 4: Trojans pick up a huge road win, 70-58. Sweet!

As a very strident anti-looeyville type, I'll jump on that Irish bandwagon, too.

Louisville might win the national title. They are playing that well since they've had some time healthy. ND's 5 point loss was the closest anyone has played Louisville at Freedom Hall since they've been healthy. That includes Georgetown. No shame in losing tonight. ND is the only team to play the top 4 (minus ND) teams in the big east all on the road.

That Louisville press was wicked, but ND's ability to beat the press nonetheless needs a lot of work if they're going to win postseason games.

Good to see Daniel Hackett with a substantial contribution in a solid win...
