I actually don't think I'll be watching tonight's (final?) Clinton-Obama debate. But if you'll be watching and you want to comment on it, here's your thread.

Hilary Clinton is smarmy. "As far as I know... (what a way to couch a lie!) But, she lacks Bill's charm...actually, any charm.

Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 9:19:04 PM
Killed who?
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 9:19:48 PM
I killed a guy with a trident.
Posted by: Joe Mama | Feb 26, 2008 9:21:36 PM
I just envision a tall guy (Obama) with his arm stretched out and his hand on a midget's head (Hillary) who is furiously swinging punches in the air.

Little Big Russ nailed her!!!!!!
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 9:31:59 PM
"i thought al gore would be president." this is a great answer to another ROUGH question by russert.
Posted by: yea | Feb 26, 2008 9:32:44 PM

Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 9:33:25 PM

playing off of what Hillary is saying? She
gets the first hard question everytime!!!
Posted by: jalypso | Feb 26, 2008 9:39:52 PM
Obama does have a plan. Kill Bin Laden. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 9:41:26 PM
Now I remember why I make it a point not to watch debates until there are only two folks left.
Posted by: BK | Feb 26, 2008 9:41:44 PM
Obama is picking Hillary apart. Obama sounds Presidential and Hillary keeps trying to have it both ways (that's a hypothetical...what a cop out).
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 9:44:54 PM
"Tim, you ask a lot of hypotheticals." = "Damn, I don't know"

World leader!!!Stop playing games
Posted by: jalypso | Feb 26, 2008 10:24:09 PM
Wow. I am a conservative. But I am consistently awed by Obama's poise and authenticity. To see the contrast between these two candidates, observe how Obama smiled with no fear whatsoever, and even pity, for Clinton's attempt to distinguish her self as a "rejecter" of support from anti-semitic organizations instead of the insufficiently "denouncing" Obama. The Coup de Gras was when he said he would concede the point, and thus reject and denounce. This poor woman is desparately grasping at straws. Something is really wrong here. She's tough, but it's hard to believe she is so far off what her game should be.
Posted by: 4-7 | Feb 26, 2008 10:24:14 PM
Brendan, you need to be watching this. Or at least watch the replay. I have LOLd about 4 times tonight. That's like 3 more times than any past Dem debates. Usually from a Barack P'wn.
Posted by: 4-7 | Feb 26, 2008 10:26:31 PM
Obama is not giving any new Ideas because
he is out of touch!!
Posted by: jalypso | Feb 26, 2008 10:27:47 PM
You're the one out of touch,
since Obama's out of reach.
Posted by: Condor | Feb 26, 2008 10:30:24 PM
"The Coup de Gras was when he said he would concede the point, and thus reject and denounce."
I see this as a point for Obama, as well. I think a lot will pounce on him for it, but it's refreshing to see a politician make an intelligent and fearless concession. I haven't seen Hillary Clinton or George W. Bush do this.
Posted by: kcatnd | Feb 26, 2008 10:35:26 PM
Obame is lame like Mccains arm!He just
does not function at all.He plays it safe
sits back on his but and never get in the
mix. fear!!"Greenhornet he invent a

Posted by: jalypso | Feb 26, 2008 10:37:12 PM
I think Obama officially won that one. Give Hillary credit for deciding to end the thing on a classy note.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 10:37:43 PM
Agree. The whole reject vs denounce thing was a point for Obama. Hillary looked desperate.
Posted by: Joe Mama | Feb 26, 2008 10:38:26 PM
Dubya doesn't know what "denounce" means.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 10:38:48 PM
I do have to say that Hillary got the brunt of the negative questions, but she gave them so much to work with with those ridiculous rants over the weekend. Is she going to blame the media for that now?
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 10:40:21 PM
Obama need to do some work lazy wanna be!!!
All talk!!!
Posted by: jalypso | Feb 26, 2008 10:42:22 PM
One thing I noticed was that Hillary stared at Obama the whole time when he spoke, whereas he wouldn't look at her at all while she spoke. Maybe she wanted him to feel her eyes on him, but it had the effect of her implicitly accepting that he should be paid attention to, while he was implicitly saying that she wasn't worth paying any attention to.
Posted by: Joe Mama | Feb 26, 2008 10:42:42 PM
Keith Olberman just wondered aloud whether these debates are comparable to the Lincoln vs. Douglas!!!
Yeah. Riiiight. Debates between two candidates from the same party, who differ only in the details of national healthcare, are historically comparable to debates between two diametricaly opposed politicians who debated over the expansion of slavery.
Oh my God, someone needs to punch that smug piece of shit in the face. Now. What a fucking joke. I. Hate. Olberman.
Posted by: thebeef | Feb 26, 2008 10:43:48 PM
Olbermann is easily the stupidest pundit on television.
Posted by: Joe Mama | Feb 26, 2008 10:45:15 PM
Joe Mama-
She has been doing that during all of the debates. I agree, I think she is giving him the stare-down, but it reminds me of the way she looks at Bill Clinton when he speaks. Maybe she was giving Bill the stare-down too.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 10:46:08 PM
No. The stupidest pundit is Chris Matthews.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 10:47:15 PM

Posted by: Joe Mama | Feb 26, 2008 10:48:00 PM
Wow. Who's the stupidest pundit on television? I'll need about 20 years to run through all the candidates.
Posted by: Condor | Feb 26, 2008 10:48:47 PM
Did anyone else think it was ironic that Hillary said, "During my public life I have always released my papers?" Helloooo! Wasn't there an investigation about this????
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 10:49:00 PM
Can any of you bet big money that Mccain is
going to win this election?I can! I know
Mccain is going to win so stop the games.
Obame is a Republican mold!!!
They are

"Any vote that might lead to war is hard, but I cast it with conviction."
Hillary Clinton, 2002
Yeah, she couldn't have foreseen how her vote could have led to war. What BS.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 10:56:57 PM
conviction
noun
1. an unshakable belief in something without need for proof or evidence
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Feb 26, 2008 11:00:43 PM
She's getting her conviction all right
Posted by: Condor | Feb 26, 2008 11:06:55 PM

I'm sick and tired of Obama harping on Washington politics. First, if he becomes President, then he will have to work with the politicians there. Longevity is a good thing because it provides an understanding of how things work. Second, the liberal national media gives him a pass despite him coming from Chicago, the mecca of corruption in politics.

Debate strategy question:
Is it a good idea, in any way shape or form, to begin a debate by complaining that the rules aren't fair?
Whoever is advising her on this stuff needs to be fired. Now.
Posted by: Alec | Feb 27, 2008 2:33:35 AM
PS: This isn't necessarily a negative comment about HRC. I'm just perplexed that this could ever have been thought to be a good idea.
PPS: Um, who is this Jalypso character? Am I the only one who's not getting him/her?
Oops, late for work - must dash.
Posted by: Alec | Feb 27, 2008 2:37:37 AM
Alec - it seems to be a characteristic of female Democratic candidates for President/VP ...
Geraldine Ferraro asked what that little red blinking light was during her VP debate ...
If a candidate can't handle a simple debate with a friendly set of moderators/judges, that candidate doesn't deserve to be US President ...
Posted by: Alasdair | Feb 27, 2008 2:51:06 AM
I think the one who advised Hillary to complain about the rules was Hillary. Someone needs to tell Hillary she isn't running as a Republican. Attacking the "liberal media" will do her no good with the Democratic base.
Posted by: Angrier and Angrier | Feb 27, 2008 9:23:40 AM
Tim Russert is saying the debate was a draw. Apparently he wasn't watching the same debate I was. Obama didn't mop the floor with her, but the belaboring of the health care thing, the whining about the debate format, the "reject" and "denounce" malarkey and the bullshit about not dealing in hypotheticals add up to a loss for Hillary in my book.
Posted by: Angrier and Angrier | Feb 27, 2008 9:31:39 AM
Tim, Tim, I'm sorry but this is just too important !
Last night - best debate EVR!
I heard Michael Dorn was going to be Barack's running mate. Is this true ? What about Christopher Judge ?
(ok. Would I have said this if there wasn't a commenter named "Wurf" above ? No.).
