About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Matt Drudge, bored with giving the New York Times and other US media severe daily heartburn, sets his sights overseas.

Fuck.

I say a few of Harry's Blues and Royals regimental mates ought to drop in on Drudge. You know, for a nice little Chat & a spot of Tea. ;]

Excerpt from the official Ministry of Defence statement (emphases added):

The decision by elements of the foreign media to report Prince Harry’s presence in Afghanistan without any consultation with the Ministry of Defence is regrettable. However, this was a circumstance that we have always been aware of and one for which we have had contingency plans in place. Whilst it had been intended that Prince Harry should return in a matter of weeks with the remainder of the Household Cavalry Regiment Battlegroup, the situation has now clearly changed.

...Until Prince Harry returns to the UK, we would ask that the media refrain from speculating on his current location, timelines and routes. The Ministry of Defence would like to reiterate its gratitude for the responsible attitude that the UK media has taken throughout Prince Harry’s deployment and for the assistance of the Society of Editors in establishing the understanding between the Ministry of Defence and the media.

The Brits are always so bloody Proper and Polite. They would never Officially suggest that Matt Drudge bears a strong resemblance to the excrement of a bottom-dwelling slug. For one thing, that would be seen as an Insult to all bottom-dwelling slugs' Digestive systems.

;>

While the statement above is indeed very polite, I wouldn't go as as to day that, "the Brits are aleays so bloody Proper and Polite"--have you lived with a Brit? :)

What the bloody hell are you talking about?

Matt Drudge is a bloody wanker

I had a bloody wanker once.

Bea - that statement wasn't from a "so bloody Proper and Polite" Brit ...

A "bloody Proper and Polite" Brit could not have said "this was a circumstance that we have always been aware of and for which ..." ...

A "bloody Proper and Polite" Brit would have said "this was a circumstance of which we have always been aware and for which ..." ...

Any other construction is one up with which one must not put ! {to counterfeit a phrase}
