About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

"...Calif. slaughterhouse being investigated for mistreating cattle."

In other news, an Alabama chickencoop comes under scrutiny for unlawful restraint ;>

Brendan, you leave Obama out of this :)

"There are some who say our demands for proper treatment of cattle are nothing but false hope. But in the American beef industry, there has never been anything false about hope. So to those who believe we can't ensure that all cattle are treated humanely, that we can't guarantee no cow is left behind, I say: yes we can."

Thanks for the lol, Joe.
Yesterday I was reading an article yesterday about the Scotsman who just broke the record for fastest bike-ride around the world, when I found the following comment from a poster. Remind you of anyone?

It takes 'all-sorts'!
The need to be, "Pedalling all over the world"
Don't appeal to me!
Far better and 'More' healthy to snuggle up to wife every night!
And who knows, if its exercise you want, your luck might be in and you will...'get-it'..:-DD
And NO!,
"Mugged in Florida and locked up by police in Pakistan"
Unless it was a bad dream!
And there in the Morning, is still your gorgeous Woman lying next to you.!
Cycling,? it sounds like..'Train-Spotting' to me!
Two Wheels,?
Tell you what Boy,!
My 'Twos' lying next to me, surpass, your metal frame!

It's time for a kinder, gentler slaughterhouse.

I'll take that beef!
