About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Attention grammar snobs!

It's National Grammar Day!

CORRECTION: My bad. It isn't today. Next Tuesday, March 4, is National Grammar Day.

I guess this means Hillary's concession speech will have to be grammatically correct.

Jumpin' the gun, B...from the link:

Nathan Bierma has sounded the warning, in his Chicago Tribune column on language today: next Tuesday, March 4, is National Grammar Day.

I hate Kelsey Grammar.

Woohoo! I can still spells things likes I wants today!

I hate Angrier and Angrier.

D'oh!

To clarify, I hate anyone who thinks using the term "tossed salad" in their show's theme song is a good idea.

To clarify, I hate anyone who thinks using an emtional adjective in their internet handle is a good idea.

And when was the last time YOU had a hit TV series or won one, let alone SIX Emmy's, starred on Broadway, or, in perhaps my greatest achievement, voiced a recurring character on the Simpsons? Are you married to a former Playboy model?
Oh you will rue the day when you crossed swords with the me good sir, you shall RUE the day!

I am very amused that in the midst of a post about grammar, someone would not-obviously-satirically use the construction of "Emmy's" to refer to the plural of the award statue.
