Will the Pats lose? Will the Giants freeze?
Undefeated New England leads San Diego, 14-12 heading into the fourth quarter of the AFC title game.
Meanwhile, the Packers and Giants are set to kick off at 6:30 PM EST at balmy Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The temperature is hovering around zero, with wind chills in the negative-20s, and they're expected to drop. It could be Ice Bowl II.
UPDATE: The Patriots won, 21-12, and the Giants prevailed in overtime, 23-20. So it'll be New York (13-6) vs. New England (18-0) in the Super Bowl -- the unstoppable unbeatens vs. a wild-card team, the #5 seed in the NFC, led by Peyton Manning's little brother. Hmm... would a Giants win be the biggest upset since Super Bowl III?

I'm glad the Pats won, but really, the hi-light for me was Dan Marino's cell phone, which erupted not once but three times during the halftime show. My own theory is that, after the first time, one or two other persons who know his number started calling, to see if they could get Marino yelled at--or perhaps stared down by an apoplectic producer, in the same way Marino used to glare at receivers who had dared drop one of his passes.

Oh, and gotta love tonight's programming:
Fox: Giants v. Packers, in the third-coldest playoff game in NFL history.
CBS: Special Report: "The Age of Warming."
Yeah, yeah, weather ain't climate.

Does anyone else thing Eli looks like a cross between Peyton and Brendan?

More the barrister than the huckster.

Giants 23, Packers 20, OT.
Well, that sucks.

As much as I despise the Pats, the Giants are going to get CRUSHED in two weeks. Oh well. Favre and Co had the best shot to beat the Pats, but that's not going to happen now.

woohoo, Giants are going to the SUPERBOWL! :) I'm definitely not going to have a voice tomorrow...

Every good Packers game ends with a Favre INT.

I've never supported the Giants before but I will, at least for this Superbowl. Personally I think Coughlin and Eli have been unfairly chastised by NYC's ungrateful fans for too long. I can't think of any other city that would give shit to a coach and a QB who have made it to the play-offs three years in a row, but that is the New York attitude for you, I guess.
Good luck to the Giants. They are going to need it.

I don't know how the Packers had a better chance of beating the Pats than the Giants when the Packers couldn't even get it done at home in the NFC championship. The only thing that kept the Packers from losing in regulations was the incompetent Giants kicking game that missed 2 game winning field goals before the final buzzer. Also the Giants ALMOST beat the Pats in the regular season finale. Maybe Eli and Peyton can trade jerseys for the game.

I'm surprised that Tom Coughlin didn't suffer from a wee touch of frostbite. I don't think he had anything convering his face the entire game. One tough sonofabitch.
the Giants are going to get CRUSHED
Oh, you mean like when the Pats crushed them in the last game of the season?

i can't wait until we make a fool out of tom brady and his "prefect season" is over. the giants aren't going to get crushed. we lost by 3 points the last game of the season. we had nothing to play for and still should have won. if we didn't make a few stupid mistakes we would have won and none of this hubbub of a perfect season would be an issue right now. eli has come into his own and with his new confidence we'll pull it off. plus strahan and toomer are craving that ring so i'm positive we'll take it home. you can talk all the shit you want about the giants, that's what everyone's been doing the whole season. and where'd it get them? THE SUPERBOWL.
