No Dorrell for Duke... it's Cutcliffe

Looks like the Dookies have stolen themselves a coach from Tennessee.  According to local reports, Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe has been offered and is expected to accept the head coaching job in Durham.

Best wishes to Coach Cut.  I hate to see him go, but I certainly understand the desire to make about 3 times what he's making as OC here.  He's going to have a long tough road to get any football success at Duke, but I certainly think he'll do a fine job.

Looks like the search isn't quite over yet. Cutcliffe would only say that he's been interviewed for the job, not that he'd been offered or accepted.

Seems like Hue Jackson is also in the mix now. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3154832

That's a lot of activity around one really mediocre-to-bad coaching vacancy.

Think of it this way Jay, you can't possibly do a worse job than has allready been done. Expectations for Duke football are so low, at worst you stay the same.

The Worldwide Leader is reporting that Cutcliffe has accepted. I think it's a very good hire--clearly he got a very raw deal at Mississippi and it was unfortunate that heart problems prevented him from joining Weis's staff.
