Looks like you might need to adjust the base a bit so it fits flush with the seat. There are some adjustment 'things' (you push them in and move the base so it is level)

Actually, this picture was taken just after the Knoxville Police Department had confirmed, at their monthly car seat checkpoint thingy, that it's good to go. (They had to reinstall it twice to get it up to standards.) The angle of the photo might be making it look not flush, or whatever, but it's actually well-positioned and quite stable. :)

Is that a massive car seat or do I just know nothing about baby equipment?

I can just picture you two putting her into it. I can't wait to see that.

Those are great car seats. The seat latches into the base. That is why it is so large. Also, there is a level on it, so you know it is set in there properly when the level is correct. The seat also sits firmly on grocery carts and most strollers. Baby technology is amazing.

Vicki, you should SEE some of the behemoth car seats out there. This one is actually relatively small. It fits in the Camry. :) There are a couple that won't.

I have the same carseat for my kiddo. The Graco SnugRide, right? If so, I would be careful when using it on a shopping cart. It doesnt fit just right on any Ive seen, and taking it off can be tricky.

1. It looks clean; don't get used to that.
2. I'm still in shock that you're having the kid.
3. Do they make plush cameras for babies? Have you bought her one of them yet?
4. Considering the history of the headline "Mission Accomplished," are you saying that somehow buying the carseat is enough? Well, Mr. President, it takes more than buying a carseat and putting it in the car to "Accomplish" your "Mission." ;-)

I'm sure you know that (once there is an infant in there) the handle needs to be put down when you drive, yes? Super excited for you guys!!

Actually, according to the manufacturer, there are three handle positions that are proper for driving: pointing straight up, as in this picture (the "5" position), or the bottom two positions, where it's as far down as it will go (the "1" position) or almost as far down as it will go (the "2" position). Only the 3 and 4 positions are unsafe for driving. The Knoxville Police car-seat safety people confirmed this, too. I expect it varies from seat to seat. Anyway, I expect we'll using the 5 position most times, as I think the handle would press against Becky's and my seats in the 1 and 2 positions.

Aw. I've converted Brendan into a little car seat expert. :)
It is a Graco SnugRide. Nice spot.

Well done, Beckles. Hey, I miss your old blog--why did you take it down? Best to you and Brenners this holiday season/ninth month!
