Full Moon & Mars

If the sky is clear where you are right now (and it's, um, nighttime), step outside and look up. The Full Moon is right next to Mars.

Thanks for the heads up. I was wondering if this was indeed what I was seeing. I have a pretty clear view right out the dormer in our living room. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera good enough to capture this image, but it is a lovely sight.

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area all I see is a VERY bright moon, no nearby stars.

I was just using Google Earth to plot a course from my house to Aleppo, Syria where the dishes I cooked for tonight's dinner originated. Very cool, 7,100 miles as the crow flies over Greenland.

And if the sky is clear, but you live near a light-polluting city so you can't see anything?

hmm, if brendan is managing to post this it would seem my theory has failed.
