The off-season continues...
So here are some of the more noteworthy updates from around the MLB (yes, this is still the same person with posts about baseball, but for personal reasons, I've changed my posting name ... Brendan, if there's an issue, please call me!)
For starters, neither A-Rod nor Steriod Barry have been signed yet, though the Yankees are supposedly talking to Rodriguez again (which, from a PR standpoint, makes both the team and the player look bad). The rumor is that if the deal goes through, he'll make about $275 mil over the next 10 seasons.
But the big news of the day ...
The big news of the day is that Tom Glavine is going back to Atlanta after having signed a 1-year, $8 million contract. When he goes into the Hall of Fame, there is now absolutely no doubt he'll wear a Braves cap.
Former teammate Greg Maddux will be staying in San Diego, though.
Additionally, even though the Red Sox can't seem to come to terms with re-signing Mike Lowell yet (they claim he's too old), they've re-signed Curt Schilling and Tim Wakefield. If they can sign Schilling and Wakefield (with the--let's face it--average seasons that they had), they can--and should--sign Lowell.
Though unofficial at this point, rumor has it that Yankees C Jorge Posada will remain in pinstripes; if that doesn't work, he says, he might try to follow Joe Torre to LA.
There are certainly more updates that I haven't posted here...I'm trying to keep this to the Big Names, so as not to (a) bore you and (b) take up room on Brendan's website.
Update on all free agents here.
