ND is back to looking sucky.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Oct 13, 2007 4:05:08 PM
It is more than apparent that ND is totally incapable of stopping the run. I'm looking forward to Navy beating ND for the first time in, what, 50 years?
Note to Weis - Fire your defensive coordinator. Switch to a 4-3 defense. Your guys don't have the talent or experience to pull off a 3-4 defense.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Oct 13, 2007 4:07:17 PM
Max, that's pretty ridiculous.
Posted by: Wobbly H | Oct 13, 2007 4:58:25 PM
Yeah Max, what are you talking about? I mean its not like ND has given up 30+ points in all but one of their games this year...oh...wait...
Posted by: David K. | Oct 13, 2007 5:04:02 PM
Arizona and USC are tied 10-10 after two interceptions committed by backup quarterback Sanchez.
Who else is waiting for the Trojans to just completely implode?

Uh-oh. It's the David K. - Mad Max Weis/ND bash jerkoff. Where's Sandy Underpants to complete the trifecta?
Posted by: | Oct 13, 2007 5:12:54 PM
hey "blank" blame Wobbly H, I wouldn't have said a thing til he opened his dumbass mouth. And if you can't take trash talking you should go cheer for tennis or something.

So Davie, am I to understand that you are on board with Mad Max's new "Fire Corwin Brown 7 games into his tenure as defensive coordinator" movement?
Posted by: Wobbly H | Oct 13, 2007 5:36:43 PM
Not saying its a given, but its certainly not "ridiculous" to consider it. Unless you fire Weis instead.
Posted by: David K. | Oct 13, 2007 5:49:53 PM
When will Weis just suck it up and start Sharpley? He's head and shoulders above Clausen at this point.
Posted by: Lep | Oct 13, 2007 6:03:03 PM
Int. for TD. Fire Corwin Brown!
Posted by: | Oct 13, 2007 6:13:04 PM
Yeah, it's pretty clear that Sharpley is the superior quarterback. For this season, at least, the Clausen experiment should be over.
Posted by: Wobbly H | Oct 13, 2007 6:18:06 PM
When ND does that more than once this season, then maybe I'll change my tune about Brown.
Posted by: Mad Max, Esquire | Oct 13, 2007 6:40:41 PM
So Davie, which of your coordinators would you like to fire--or would you prefer that the head coach go, as most on Dawgman seem to want right now?
Posted by: Wobbly H | Oct 14, 2007 3:55:36 PM
I think our defensive coordinator needs to go, I said that last year too.
On the other hand UW has the toughest schedule in the country and are in a major rebuilding year with a freshman QB so i'm willing to have limited expectations. However I feel with better defensive play calling we could be 4-2 instead of 2-4.
Dawgman is unrealistic in his expectations and pretty much always has been.
Posted by: David K. | Oct 14, 2007 5:37:29 PM
Didn't you say the offensive coordinator should go last year after the loss to Stanford?
Posted by: Wobbly H | Oct 14, 2007 6:54:31 PM
Yep.
Posted by: David K. | Oct 14, 2007 7:02:47 PM
Not to pile on Ty (or you, David), but one of the big complaints at ND was his unwillingness to part with coordinators who clearly needed to go -- an unhealthy obsession with loyalty over competence, somewhat akin to our current president. :) Anyway, David, what happens if Ty doesn't get rid of these offending coordinators at the end of the season? Not trying to put you on the spot (I realize a lot can happen between now and then), I'm just wondering how committed you are to the necessity of their ouster, and whether you'll start to have second thoughts about Ty if he doesn't show them the door.

I am less interested in getting rid of Lappano (OC), i think that was out of frustration more than anything. I think our offense is mostly young and inexperienced and playing like it, but they show definite improvement and definite potential.
The DC, well i've been dissapointed for a couple of years. I don't have second thoughts about Ty yet, even if he does keep the same DC, because he may have more information than i do, and its hard to judge fairly against the strength we've faced this year. I think the frustration is exacerbated by the fact that we won the first two and came pretty close but for a few big plays given up by the defense in atleast 2-3 of the other games. Ohio State is the only game i really felt we had no chance of winning. The other three, even when we were struggling i felt like we were still in it but for those few plays.
Posted by: David K. | Oct 14, 2007 8:26:41 PM
That makes sense.
Posted by: Brendan | Oct 14, 2007 8:53:24 PM
Davie, it seems to me that the Ohio State game was no different than USC, UCLA, or Arizona State--games which the Huskies were leading or very close at halftime only to collapse in the second half. Of those games, only the Davie Bowl ended up being close in the end. That seems like more of a pattern to me than discernable progress (of course, far be it for me to discuss discernable process and competent coaching).

Having been at or watched in their entirety all three games I can tell you that the difference was clear to me. Against Ohio State we clearly got outlasted and overpowered. We hung with them at the beggining but could not hang on much like you can keep up with a marthon runner early in a race, but usually over-exert yourself to do so. In the second half i felt they were clearly in control, whereas in the other games it felt like but for a play or two the Huskies could have taken back control.
