About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Putin is a colossal moron. He is essentially sealing Russia's fate as a future non-factor in the world economy. Allying with an islamofascist to help Iran develop a nuclear program is first-rate buffoonery. I can't decide whether he's doing this merely to be antagonistic to the U.S. or whether he thinks its necessary to protect Russia against the powder keg that is is southerly neighbor. Either way, it's just another step in Russia's decline.

Russia's economy is supported only by its natural resources: ores and, chiefly, oil. The GDP of the country is based almost entirely on its oil export. The power and wealth in Russia is concentrated in one area only. In other words, if the Russian government does not significantly invest in research and development and work toward becoming a research economy, as the world gradually shifts to hydrogen fuel over the next 20 to 30 years, Russia will decline into third-world irrelevance. Why he thinks a nuclear Iran will in any way help Russia is beyond me. It will merely provide Iran the wherewithal to nuke whichever neighbor it pleases once a hydrogen-based Western world destroys its ability survive off of oil reserves. Putin should be taking steps to distance Russia and protect the country from Iran, not cozying up with it's fascist, terrorist-supporting moron of a dictator. Iran will be thrice as agitated in twenty years, and Putin needs to be taking steps to protect Russia (and the rest of the world for that matter) against Iran NOW.

He is an absolute fool.

Perhaps eez subtle Russki plot to sell Chernobyl technology to Iran for oil ?

I bet that picture makes a lot of folks nervous.

Is Halloween trick or treat.
Look, we scare everybody! Ha-Ha - snort...

John McCain had a great line the other day. He said, "When I look in Putin's eyes I see three letters...KGB."

McCain is the only Republican I would consider voting for (especially if Hillary gets the nomination). I may not agree with all of his positions, but he strikes me as a true patriot and not as the arrogant fool holding the top office now.
