Re. Damn. Diculous.
#1 and #2 lose on the same day. Cal's hypothetical reign as the nation's top team lasted for less than three hours. New #1: Ohio State. New #2: South Freakin Florida. This season is insane.
UPDATE: I forgot that South Florida was jumped last week by Boston College and, in the coaches and Harris polls, Oklahoma. So they may only be #4, with BC #2 and OU #3 -- even though the Eagles haven't played anybody yet, and the Sooners have a loss (and their top wins, over Texas and Missouri, are less impressive than South Florida's top two, at Auburn and vs. West Virginia ... not to mention the hurt USF put today on UCF, a team that almost beat Texas itself).

BC will probably be #2 not SF

Of the ten teams that were in the top ten three weeks ago, only Ohio State has not lost since then.
It's a crazy season. Ohio State could easily lose one of it's last 5 games. They play Penn, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Michigan State. All of those teams could beat them this year.
USF could be beat by Rutgers, Cinncinnati or Louisville.
BC could lose to Virginia Tech, Florida State, Clemson or Miami.
1 Lose teams are NOT out of it.

go Bulls. USF, 11 years old and a shot at the title. And the national championship might still run through the state of Florida. Sorry, Adopted the bulls as a second college team a number of years ago and never thought they would be anywhere nears this position.
That said, OSU, BC and USF don't really scare anyone do they?

On Sep. 15, UCLA (#11) lost to Utah State (unranked). Last week, USC (#2) lost to way-way-way unranked Stanford. Tonight, #2 Cal lost to unranked OSU.
What do they have in common? All three upsets were broadcast on Versus. It's the Versus Curse! College football gods help the next big PAC-10 game on Versus.

Maybe when the BCS Bowls are all filled up with WAC teams, and a team like Kansas is the only undefeated team in the Big 12, people will take a more serious look at a college football playoff system.

I call BCS CHAOS!?!?!?! upon us.
I love this. I hope all the unbeaten teams get a loss. Except maybe USF and Hawaii.

fUTLA lost to Utah, not Utah State. If they'd lost to Utah State, that would have been all over ESPN like Appalachian State and Stanford after their upset victories.

I'm pretty sure that the WAC can't fill up the BCS bowls no matter how many losses the BCS conf champs end up with. A season like this makes it harder to justify a playoff, not easier, IMO.

One-loss is the new undefeated.

Imagine when the BCS powers-that-be start adding up the receipts from bowl games featuring USF and Hawaii. They will blow their f-king brains out.
Play-offs. Plain and simple.

If the BC team that showed up to ND yesterday shows up at VT, then it won't take OT to find them in the L column.
