Sounds to me like McCain is gaining some traction.

Is it me, or was Ron Paul the only person in the room not applauding McCain's line?

Well, Ron Paul was probably the only Republican who was at Woodstock, so maybe he was offended.

Also, I don't think Fred Thompson was applauding either. He was probably waiting for his director to feed him his lines.

in this case it would be blocking A&A...

I think the word you're looking for is "ashamed," not "offended."

Not "in traction," A&A? :-P

He might be gaining traction, but he's moved too far to the right to be electable by the general populace.

Actually, I think McCain is the only Republican who could win the general election. The Republican base will abandon 9/11 Boy and all the other guys are too dull or scary.

Scary is a good word. I really have had trouble watching any of the debates because Fred Thompson's glare scares the hell out of me!!! I can't even concentrate on what's he's saying when he looks like a "doom and gloom preacher". ;-)

You guys are funny.

why would Ron be ashamed... The event in question fits with his general world view, at least to a certain extent.

I don't actually think shame was his reason for not applauding (assuming he in fact wasn't applauding -- I can't be sure from the grainy video). He's probably just ungracious. My comment was in response to A&A hypothesizing that Ron Paul, as someone who may have been at Woodstock, was somehow "offended" by McCain's remark. Why Ron Paul (or anyone, for that matter) would be offended by McCain pointing out that he was being tortured as a POW during Woodstock is beyond me. I mean, I suppose I could understand some other POW taking offense generally to someone using their POW status for political gain (although McCain certainly has earned that right regardless), but that clearly isn't what we're talking about here. My point is that someone who was sh*thammered at Woodstock and who feels "offended" that an American POW was being tortured in Vietnam around the same time is probably the biggest a$$hole walking the planet today, no matter what their "general world view," and shame would be a much more appropriate emotion.
