I passed the bar!
WOOOOO HOOOOO !!!
P.S. The fact that I passed was actually announced on my blog, by a commenter, almost two hours before I found out myself. LOL! God bless the Internet.
Two Colorado bloggers who've been anxiously counting down to the results, Frustrated Bar Examinee and BlawGirl, also passed. Congrats to them!
P.P.S. The pass rate was 72% overall, and 79% among first-time takers.

Now you can sue Michael Dell and Steve Jobs for the emotional trauma your computers have caused you over the years ;-)

cool, but I'm still not going to call you Doctor Loy, got it?
Posted by: dcl | Oct 4, 2007 4:52:13 PM
Shouldn't you wait until your background/character check is complete and you are sworn in to call yourself a lawyer? Ah, screw it, congrats!
Posted by: BK | Oct 4, 2007 4:55:25 PM
Congratualtions to you and yours.
Posted by: anonamom | Oct 4, 2007 5:03:42 PM
Yeah, BK, technically you're right. Technically the word "officially" in my temporary blog subtitle is incorrect. However, as you say, "Ah, screw it." :) I've never so much as gotten a traffic ticket. I never even got a detention in high school. (Though I did get one in middle school. Only one! And it was a total injustice! I was scapegoated!) So I think I'll be fine on the whole character & fitness thing. :) Knock on wood...

For us laymen, when the chart says "Attorney" and "Non Attorney," what exactly is the difference? Is the "Attorney" column for those who are currently practicing in some other state, but needed to take it in that particular state in order to practice there? If so, then I assume that "Non Attorneys" are those who are new (like you) and have never held a license before?
Posted by: Trisha | Oct 4, 2007 5:18:49 PM
Yes, Trisha, I think that's right.

Congrats Brendan! It's quite a relief huh? And you know what, you're part of a special sub-set of bar-examinee: the "I-Read-Harry-Potter-the-Weekend-Before-the-Bar-and-still-passed" Club.

Funny story regarding background checks
When Our oldest son passed the Bar in CA
they with held it because they said he was 6 years behind on child support OOPS...
well that was a shock because he does not have kids or a wife or an ex wife ETC...
Turns out someone had used his SS# and well it was all cleared up but for a while there it was pretty scary!

Great news!!!
As a non-attorney, in my job, I am surrounded daily with attorneys of every stripe. One of my great friends is a "Denny Crane" style Criminal Defense Attorney (but even more crude, if you can imagine). If they let him practice, anyone can get a license.

Great Brendan! Though this means I'll need to quietly add 'except one' to my declarations of "Kill all the lawyers!"

Brendan: Many congrats...not surprising at all....how can a Trojan and Irish grad not come through in the clutch. Anyone who can warn the world of Katrina, track planetary movements, follow almost every sport (including politics), get married and still complete law school...can certainly nail the bar exam. Again, congrats and blessings on the many great things to come this year.

Congratulations ...
So - does this mean you can now legally announce yourself as a Solicitor ?

Excellent. Use this new power responsibly. Or not. Whatever is most fun.
