Dear NBC,

It's not SAHN-chez.

It's not San-CHEZ.

It's SAN-chez.

Get it right.

Sincerely,

A USC fan

P.S. Actually, yes, turning the ball over at your own 10 yard line is a "bad play."

I came back from work early just to see that absolute SUCKY CRAP of a punt non-return.

A bad play based on luck.

I've been trying to figure out what's going on with their pronunciation! When they accented the second syllable I was really puzzled...

Best wishes,
Laura

Technically, there is nothing wrong with the "Sahn-chez" pronunciation.

Okay, but what about san-CHEZ (syllables emphasized like "Cortez")? That's what the play-by-play guy was doing most often. I only heard "SAHN-chez" two or three times, but I heard "san-CHEZ" all afternoon long, and it was annoying.

That pronunciation is only okay if there is an accent mark over the e. But I hear you, they were butchering the polynesian names the entire game. And worst of all, Pat Haden went to USC and was a Rhodes scholar.
