Utah 44, UCLA 6...
...final.
WTF? LOL! WOOOO!!
This would be the same Utah team that came into the game with an 0-2 record, having lost 24-7 to Oregon State and 20-12 to Air Force. And yes, tonight's game was at Utah's home stadium, but so was the Air Force game, so it's not like the Utes are invincible at home. The Bruins just came in and laid a giant egg.
Fire Karl Dorrell?
Anyway, if the Trojans beat Nebraska, it'll be what some USC fans call a "perfect day," meaning a day on which USC wins and both UCLA and Notre Dame lose. Obviously, as a Notre Dame fan except when they're playing 'SC, I don't personally hope for such days (unless it's the day of a USC-ND game), nor are they actually a good thing from a BCS perspective -- but still, there will be a lot of very happy people in Trojan Nation tonight if USC wins and completes the trifecta.

shows how bad pac10 football has become. i think the big east is a superior conference at this point. id argue for lsu vs. rutgers if both teams go undefeated for a national title game.

LOL! That's hilarious. Would this be the same Pac-10 that went 9-0 last Saturday? Would LSU be from the same conference as Tennessee, which lost to Cal, by chance? And I don't know if you're a Domer, but if so, you might remember that Oregon manhandled Michigan last week... and I don't know if you've heard, but Michigan won a close one against the Irish today. I could go on and on. Nevermind the illogical nature of claiming that UCLA losing to Utah, which was considered weak coming into the game largely because they lost to Oregon State, means the Pac-10 is weak.
UCLA laid an egg... it happens. You don't see me claiming the SEC is weak because Auburn lost to South Florida. Get a life.
Moreover, the Big East absolutely should not be cited anymore as the archtypal crappy conference, as you seem to be doing. It's perfectly clear from the results so far this season that the SEC, Pac-10, Big East and Big 12 are (in whatever order) the top 4 conferences; the ACC and Big Ten are well behind.
You should really remove your head from your arse and start paying attention to what's been happening on the football field this season. College football is a great game, if you actually watch it.

P.S. I certainly agree, however, that Rutgers should be seriously considered for the title game if they go undefeated. Without question, they should get in ahead of any one-loss teams, and there are probably some potential undefeated teams they should get in ahead of. (Like if Boston College were to go undefeated, for example.) Not USC, though -- the Trojans' schedule is brutal, as any neutral observer knows (unlike LSU, whose toughest road games are Alabama and Kentucky, all of USC's toughest games are on the road), and if they manage to go undefeated, there will be no one in the country with a more legit claim on a spot in the title game.

I just wanted to say I think the hurt USC player is faking it to discharge Nebraska's momentum. I think USC has team psychologist jury consultant types who know that a hurt player taking a 15 minute time out in the middle of the team arouses sympathy and emasculates the opposition in part. This dynasty needs to be brought to its knees. How can anyone enjoy watching them play with so many years of dominance ?

Oregon State got worked by Cincy last week.
Just sayin' :-)

Hey, Cincy may have a top-25 defense this year...

I reiterate: suck it bRuins!

4-7, watching the Trojans win will never get old.

I mostly agree with you about the conferences, with the exception of the Big 12, which looks pretty bad off this year. And yes, LSU has it's hard games at home this year, just by luck of the draw. The schedule rotation just happened to work out that way this year, unlike last year's insane road tour. And the way LSU's played so far, I can't see how anyone could argue against them being in the top two. And I have to figure those schedule strengths are looking different now with UCLA falling apart and Kentucky taking down Louisville.

Believe me, I know all about the luck-of-the-draw schedule rotation. It's the same way for USC: the way the balance of power in the Pac-10 is right now, it's either all their tough games are on the road, or all of them are at home. Last year was the "easy" schedule. This year, not so much.
Also, you're right, of course, about schedule assessments changing as new information comes in. Though I suspect UCLA will still be a tough out; I think they just laid an egg today, committing like 800 turnovers or some such. (Sort of like Auburn the last two weeks.) Karl Dorrell's Bruins have never been known for their game-to-game consistency. (See, e.g., beating USC last year, then losing to Florida State in the bowl game)
Anyway, USC and LSU are #1 and #2, in whatever order, and I don't imagine that will change if they both win out.

LSU & USC are 1 & 2 in no particular order until either one loses. That's already clear. Oklahoma will be waiting for a spot if and when it comes open.

Or until they lose the Big 12 Championship game. That's worked for them before.

That and they only have 4 true away games, given that they play Tulane at Tulane's "home" stadium, the Super Dome. Yeah tough to get LSU fans there...

Zing! Heh.

.
I would submit that yesterday was the PERFECT Perfect Day: USC won convincingly against a ranked opponent, and Neutered Dame and ugla got stomped to an embarrassingly historic degree.

Brendan, was it necessary to take a shot at Notre Dame to make your first point? The poster was talking about the Big East and the Pac-10, and he didn't mention ND at all.
I'm relatively new here, but I just don't see you as a Notre Dame fan.
