About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Quack!

My feeling on the Michigan-Oregon game has been that Michigan would probably come out firing all cylinders, wanting to redeem themselves after the Appalachian State debacle, and would probably win -- unless they have a rough start, commit some turnovers, etc., and fall behind early. In that case, I figured, resolve could fizzle to demoralization, memories of Appy State could loom large, and Oregon could win big.

Well, on the opening drive, Michigan QB Chad Henne threw an interception in the end zone. Now Oregon is driving toward the end zone. Gamecast here.

Becky and I are about to leave and head toward UT for the Vols game, so you can consider this a general college-football open thread, at least until I post something via cell phone later. Go Ducks! Go Vols! GO IRISH!

Wow, 31-7 Ducks! If this keeps up, will Lloyd make it to the ND game next week???

And in my conference, Boise State is trailing Washington 10-24 at the half!

My game comes at 7:30 (MDT) tonight, as NMSU is at UNM.

The sad thing is, if Oregon had played Michigan last week and beaten the tar out of them like they are now, the Ducks would probably have gotten a ranking out of it.

F*%^ Michigan. They are such a fraud.

GO IRISH!!! BEAT JOE PA!!! BEAT PENN STATE!!!

GO HAWKEYES!!! BEAT SYRACUSE!!!!!

ND gets a huge INT return for TD

Good start for the Irish...7-0 on the interception return and extra point. Clausen didn't look too shabby on his first series either, going 3-4, only miss on a drop by Allen. Came up blank after a field goal, but good to see confidence nonetheless.

The ND defense is playing much better, but so far I haven't seen much from the offense except for flats and an O-line that can't protect JC if he takes more than three steps back. If Penn State manages not to defeat itself with more turnovers, it will be interesting to see what, if anything, the ND offense is capable of.

Oh. And penalties. The ND offense is really good at those.

Yeah, I think Clausen actually looks good...but the OL would lose a game of Red Rover with preschoolers.
