SHOOT YOUR HUSBAND -- go on Oprah! (Via Brendan Loy).... [Read More]
Well, not to make too light of a serious situation, I don't doubt the woman was probably treated like shit by her husband. But I have to agree with what appears to be the concensus outside of the courtroom where she was allowed to walk, which is she should have spent some time behind bars, even for manslaugther.

What's worse? Killing your husband to meet Oprah, or apparently killing your kid to meet the Pope...

From the article: ?Winkler will talk about abuse within her marriage, reveal details from the day her husband died and share why she's decided to speak out now, a news release on Oprah's Web site said."
"the day her husband died"??????
The day she slaughtered her husband with a shotgun!
Feminists love stories like this, but I have to wonder. The minister isn't here to give his side of the story. He's too busy being SHOT DEAD WITH A SHOTGUN. All we hear is her story--and of course, it's the same old story: physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. She probably has no proof at all for the most serious accusations. She can say anything she wants now that he's dead.

I agree that it seems strange the woman is spending NO time in prison. However, you need to consider that it was a southern jury - not known for leniency - who acquitted this gal of killing her minister husband. Either the prosecution put on a hell of a poor performance, or there are mitigating factors here the public may not be aware of.
