About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

Heading home

We just met up with Brian Neudorff, TV meteorologist and fellow weatherblogger, and his wife Trisha and their three adorable boys, at Timmy Ho's in Erie. That was fun. Here's a photo of Brian and me just before we left:

Brian and Trisha are both guestbloggers and commenters here on BrendanLoy.com, so that makes them #5 and #6 on the list of blog-friends we've met in person. :)

Now, we continue en route back to Knoxville... and I'm going to try out Google Maps's new "embed" feature:

Ooooh, aaaah. :)

When we re-enter the state of Tennessee this evening, I think we'll be there to stay for a while. With my job starting on Tuesday and Becky's pregnancy getting further and further along with each passing day (obviously), this promises to be the end of our recent interstate rambling -- we've been out-of-state for 21 of the last 44 days -- and the beginning of a "calm before the storm" period preceding the baby's birth. Which is perfectly fine with both of us. We've had a great time with our recent travels, but we're both pretty exhausted, and since exhaustion will become a permanent state of being once the baby arrives, we're both keen to be a little bit more laid back these next few months, to take advantage of the opportunity to relax while we still have it. I look forward to many forthcoming weekends of watching college football and not doing 1,400-mile round-trip drives. :)

Looks like you're going through Mason Ohio, that is where Dom lives... remember Dom?

It was great getting to meet you and Becky, Brendan! You two are truly delightful :) I hope the boys didn't bother you too much, lol. They were a bit more rambunctious today than they usually are.

Enjoy your down time. You certainly will need it!

Wow, I didn't realize until really looking at the picture how tall you are! I'm used to people being tall (I'm only 5 feet 1) but your about half a head taller than dh!

Aw, we thought your boys were totally cute. Their mild rambunctiousness was nothing out of the ordinary for three little boys surrounded by boring adult conversation while high on sugar from yummy donuts. :) They're great, and it was great to meet you too!

lol, well, thanks :) I'm sure it was the boring adult conversations and yummy donught distractions that kept them hyper, lol. Oh, that and wanting to go to McD's for lunch ;)

You'll be passing through Cincinnati during the annual WEBN fireworks event. Expect horrible traffic. There's usually close to 400,000 people down on the river. Fireworks begin at 9 and there has been all kinds of music, bands, etc. down there today.

What, couldn't be bothered to stop over in the greater DC are for a night on your way back? Bah...

It was pretty cool to pass through Cinci when we did. The traffic wasn't that bad because most of the people had already staked out their spots for the show and we could see tons of boats floating aroud in the river. :)

Trish, you really need to find a way to get here, quick. When Brendan has seen Baby Z, Ry-Ry and Alex since the last time I have, that's saying something.

Though I guess Baby Z is a poor name, considering they're 6 now. Wow, I'm getting old.

(P.S. Trish is my stepsister. Hi Trish! *waves*)
