About me

I'm Brendan Loy, a 26-year-old graduate of USC and Notre Dame now living and working in Knoxville, Tennessee. My wife Becky and I are brand-new parents of a beautiful baby girl, born on New Year's Eve.

I'm a big-time sports fan, a politics, media & law junkie, an astronomy buff, a weather nerd, an Apple aficionado, a Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fanatic, and an all-around dork. My blog is best-known for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina, but I blog about anything and everything that interests me.

This is interesting -

I've never seen a NOAA probability table with nothing but NA. I think that means they've never seen a storm similar enough to this before to make any predictions about it.

Head over to my site I ask what is wrong with this picture? Seems the GFS is not handling Felix very well...

Holy Crap!! That thing will run over Honduras like Georgia Tech through the Irish.

At least it's moving at a respectable speed, so it's not going to sit and pound one area for days. And it's wind area is small.

But this one's creeping me out. I can't put my finger on it, it's just wrong.

God help anyone near the eyewall. Reinforced concrete won't take those wind speeds.

With all due respect Spider, I think you should say "like Georgia Tech through Duke."

No, BlogDog, I think Spider has it right.

Like a hot knife through the high priced spread,
Like GT through the Irish, or
Like a psychotic crack whore through Duke.
