Booty for Heisman: let the hype begin!
Via TrojanWire:
I'll be honest: I wasn't terribly impressed with Booty last year... until the Rose Bowl. But man, if he plays this season the way he played against Michigan, he'll be a runaway Heisman winner.
Oh, and speaking of college football: Don't forget to enter the 3rd annual Irish Trojan USC & ND pick 'em contest!

Actually, Booty was hampered by a strained back most of last year -- not enough to keep him out of the lineup, but enough to render him less effective. He was back to full strength for the Rose Bowl. Booty should be awesome this year.
Still, if you look at Booty's overall numbers last year as a first-year starter, you'd have to be real nitpicky to find something there worth complaining about.

Yeah, well, I suppose I was a bit spoiled after all those years of Palmer and Leinart doing superhuman stuff under center. Until the Rose Bowl, Booty last year was merely human -- the bum! ;)

Too bad the only opponent USC's Booty and Hawaii's Brennan have in common this year is Idaho. Last year, the numbers were...
Versus Oregon State
Brennan:
37/50, 401 yards(8.0 average),2 TD
Booty:
24/39, 406(10.4 average), 3 TD
Versus Arizona State
Brennan:
33/42, 559 yards(13.3 average), 5 TD
Booty:
12/25, 148 yards(5.9 average), 2 TD
No such luck in comparing the two top quarterbacks this year.

I say "Bah!" to early Heisman-hyping!
Although, I do think Booty will be solid this year.
